the Geography of Har Karkom
Har Karkom lies in the Negev dessert which is part of southern Israel.
In ancient times Har Karkom would have been nearly 250 miles from Egypt where the Jewish people were freed from.
The mountain was in close proximity to a water source which would have provided better living conditions.
Har Karkom is large raised area of land that has a fairly level surface, or a plateau. Aside from being mostly level the mountain does have one peak that lies south of the plateau.
